I first saw this book in Hardback at an area retailer and was disenchanted at its $76 worth, so whereas cashier was ringing up a couple different items for me, I logged onto Amazon on my iPhone and ordered this paperback version. Solely draw back was the 24 hour wait as I was hooked on this e book from its first few pages.
Though showing as though this can be a abstract of late 19th and early 20th century images written decades ago, it was just written in 2007. The writer's style lends itself to giving it a real resonance of authenticity while providing the mandatory hindsight implied in the many years between photograph and now. There are hundreds of inset quotations from early manuscripts and accompanying pictures that offer you an infinite amount of insight into how paintings and photographs played off of one another and the way much goes into just seeing the picture you are about to make.
It isn't a manual, however a non secular guide for opening your eyes, and in lots of instances, limiting your view through the lens instead, to capture a sure moment in time. It is this moment that psychologists all discuss as "living within the second". And for me, that is the place this e-book becomes a textbook for that eternal quest.
Anybody who loves images and struggles with over pondering, dwelling on the past, or dreading the future, need only read a few passages from this book, decide up your Leica or pocket digital camera and begin seeing the world the way it is.... Right at this exact moment..... Now. It's amazingly therapeutic. You will notice the world in a different way after reading this book.
that is extraordinarily thorough if not barely wordy opus. While studying, it looked like a serious paper written for peer review. On the draw back I felt that it was not overtly aimed toward the "layperson" photographer. If I had been to be in a place to ask, I'd also wish for extra photographic illustrations. However it is nicely value plowing by means of for its insights into avenue photog as related to different movements within the arts and letters from the identical epoch.
